Some of us are so relaxed that we’re practically Zen masters without all of the training, while others of us find it impossible to chill out and just be at all. If you are one of the latter, then never being able to relax and chill is not going to be great for your physical or mental well-being. You need to find more chill in your life if you want to avoid burning out one of these days, but how exactly do you do that? Here are some things that might help.
How to Find More Chill
1) Drop some stuff
If your cup is so full of stuff that it is running over and practically causing a flood, then you need to find a way to drop some stuff and have a bit less in your life because otherwise you won’t have time to find more chill in your life, right? So, scrutinize your schedule and look for anything that you really do not have to do, and which does not make life better for doing, it and take it out so you can schedule in some me-time instead. This is an excellent starting point.
2) Use the Pomodoro technique
When you do have things to do, like work or study, for example, a good way to find more chill amidst the busyness is to use the Pomodoro technique, which basically just means working for 25 minutes and then taking a five-minute break, then repeating. During that five-minute break, you can take a shirt walk, stretch or meditate so that you get more headspace and don’t feel like you’re constantly working without a break.
3) Learn how to meditate
Speaking of meditation, learning how to do it is one of the best ways to find more chill in your life. Carving out even just 10 minutes a day to sit, close to your eyes and focus on your breath, can be revolutionary. It can help you to tackle the day with much more gusto and with a spaciousness of mind that, even when you are busy does not cause you to feel stressed out. Apps like Calm and Headspace will teach you the basics, and you’ll be amazed at just how effective it can be for helping you find your chill.
4) Get some herbal help
If you are one of those people who just cannot relax even when you have free time and you’re just sitting on the couch doing nothing much, you might find that herbal supplements like lavender, chamomile, and even cannabis if it is legal where you are (these are the best CBD & THC for managing stress) may be the best things out there ot help you find more chill in your life.
5) Let it go
If you want to be more chilled, then you really cannot let every little thing get to you. So, when a colleague annoys you or your dog won’t stop barking or whatever, stop, take a deep breath, remind yourself none of this will matter tomorrow, and then move on with grace.
Time to chill!
