One of the most common skincare questions is how to achieve clearer skin.

A lot of us suffer from spots and blemishes which we would love to banish, especially those more embarrassing spots on our butt cheeks. It isn’t always a simple task and a lot of us suffer from hormonal acne. But there are often traits we can replace with good habits to help make our skin clearer

Ways To Achieve Clearer Skin

Doesn’t matter what your skin type is or how meticulously you follow your skincare routine, some spots just keep reappearing. Or you will find you get spots in the same area and you can’t work out why

This can be down to a few reasons and there are ways we can try and prevent them

Let’s take a look at these 3 bad habits you might have that could be causing your breakouts

Clearer Skin Habits

Wipe off daily grime

Skin cleaning wipes are one of the worst offenders when it comes to encouraging spots. If you are using them as part of your routine or as a quick way to remove your makeup, stop! You will see the benefits in a matter of days after you quit using them.

Wipes absolutely do not remove all your make-up or all the dirt from the day. Sure they take off probably the top layer making your face appear cleaner but they can not clean your skin properly.

The products put on wipes are not for specific skin types, they are 1 wipe that suits all kinds of treatment. As anyone who looks after their skin will tell you, you need to be using a solution for your skin type for the best results.

Swap your wipes for disposable cotton wall pads or reusable clothe for better cleansing. A face halo is a fantastic tool as are double-sided clothes. I tend to use the clothes more as I love the smoothness the polished side gives my skin.

Change your pillowcase

Imagine how long you spend with your face on your pillow a night. Now think about how often you change your pillowcase. Chances are you are not changing it enough in relation to how much you use it.

Your pillowcase harbours dead skin cells, oil and grease as well as general household dust. If you find you have spots appearing seemingly out of nowhere overnight, chances are they are from your pillowcase.

In an ideal world, we could change our pillowcases daily, like our clothes. Wear it then wash it. Use it then wash it.

If you are someone who naturally has oily skin, try changing your pillowcase daily for a week. The results after that one week speak for themselves.

Using a natural fibre pillow and pillowcase is the best way for your skin to breathe. I swear by silk pillowcases and the benefit they have on my skin.

Clean your makeup tools

If you are a daily make-up wearer it might feel really impractical to wash your brushes after every use

One thing that is practical is having an applicator for each part of your make-up routine. For example specific eyeshadow brushes and specific contour brushes, so you aren’t mixing them

Your face is likely to be more oily than your eyelids. Having separate brushes stops you from spreading the oil onto other parts of your face

If you use cream makeup and foundation with a beauty sponge then cleaning this daily is a necessity. With it being moist it will harbour more bacteria than a dry brush. So you don’t want to be putting that back on your face each day as this will encourage unnecessary breakouts

Rather than just dampening your make-up sponge actually wash it before each use

These are 3 things for you to try to encourage clearer skin and avoid spots on your face

Hopefully, after you have tried these you will see the benefits
