The Aldi middle aisle strikes again with this Lacura silicone facial cleanser.
These cleansing devices are becoming more and more popular as we all strive for cleaner skin.
A very popular brand on the market at the moment is Foreo.
However, the price tag for the cheapest Foreo is still expensive as far as I’m concerned. Demonstrating good daily frugal habits means that I would rather source a cheaper alternative and save some money.
Lacura Silicone Facial Cleanser
As we all know Lacura have some incredible beauty products.
I am pretty sure everything I have ever used by Lacura, especially their skin care products have been fantastic. As well as being extremely affordable.
This silicone facial cleanser appeared this week. So naturally, I grabbed it and have given it a couple of uses to see if it meets my expectations.
I paid £9.99 which is less than a 10th of the price of the similar Foreo Luna.
There was a choice of three colours, pale pink, pale blue and hot pink. I bought the pale pink version and it is suitable for all skin types.
The Device
It is a hand-held devise, relatively small and easy to use. Upon opening it new from Aldi, it was already charged and ready to go
In the box, there is a short USB charging cable and a user manual
I did take a quick read of the user manual and it is as simple to use as it looks
There are 14 different settings for the vibration intensity. This is great as if you are new to using these types of facial cleansers, it is best to start at the lowest speed. Over time you can build up to a higher level assuming you don’t have any skin irritation
If you have sensitive skin this device is still totally fine to use too. I wouldn’t recommend using it on broken skin though, as this could cause further damage
If you have an oily T zone, for instance, the back of the device has slightly different bristles to cater to this
A slight variation of the bristle for round the nose area too. The main bristles are on the front of the device which are just slightly smaller and without close inspection, you probably wouldn’t pay any attention to the differences in bristle length
Using The Silicone Facial Cleanser
To charge the device simply plug it into any working USB port.
A light continuously flashes from the transparent base, which indicates it is charging. When the light goes out this indicates it is fully charged.
Before you put it on your face ensure it isn’t damaged in any way and give it a rinse.
The back charging port will have a silicone stopper, ensure this is secure before getting it wet. It is crucial this stopper is in securely to ensure you don’t get water into the device as this will stop it from working.
You can place your finger over the stopper while rinsing to help keep it extra secure if necessary.
It is advised to apply a cleansing liquid to your skin rather than to the device itself.
Hold the power button to start.
I like to use a foaming cleanser and the vibrations really help maximise the foaming action. Move the silicone facial cleanser over your face, spending no more than 15 seconds in any particular area.
As you get used to using the device you can press the + near the power button which will increase the intensity.
The same way you can reduce the intensity with the – button.
Once you have sufficiently cleansed your face turn the device off to rinse clean. Always pat dry after cleaning, do not leave to drip dry.
Warm water and soap will be enough to clean the device. Never use a detergent as this could impact the quality of the silicone bristles.
Repeat the process daily if desired.
Is the Lacura Silicone Facial Cleanser worth it?
100%
If you are a makeup wearer this cleansing method will bring up more dirt than your regular double cleanse. I was shocked to see how much of my foundation was still on my face after I had already double-cleansed. I could see the colour of my foaming cleanser changing colour which shows how much dirt and buildup I had on my face.
If you are someone who has acne or is prone to hormonal spots, gets a silicone cleanser it will help with excess dirt. If you remove your makeup with makeup wipes then this will be excellent for you to use as your second cleanse.
I can not see any real difference between this Lacura silicone cleanser and my Foreo Luna. Apart from the price tag.
I will continue to use it with a few different liquid cleansers and if I have anything more to add I will amend this post.
But for £9.99 this is well worth a trip to Aldi.
